A Beauty of Joseon sunscreen search can get confusing surprisingly fast. The tube most people recognize is Relief Sun : Rice + Niacinamide SPF50+ PA++++. On the brand’s U.S. store, however, Day Dew Sunscreen SPF 50 occupies a very different product page.
Day Dew is not Relief Sun with an American name pasted over it. Beauty of Joseon describes it as a sunscreen developed for the U.S. market, with avobenzone 3%, homosalate 7%, octisalate 5% and octocrylene 5% listed as active ingredients. It is labeled Broad Spectrum SPF 50 and carries 80-minute water resistance.
That becomes easy to miss once reviews, shopping links and short-form videos reduce several different tubes to the same phrase: “the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen.”
Three sunscreens behind one search term
Relief Sun remains the familiar reference point. Beauty of Joseon describes it as a creamy but lightweight daily sunscreen built around rice extract and niacinamide, sold globally with SPF50+ PA++++ labeling.
Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh : Rice + B5 is another formula. It was developed for people who wanted something lighter and more fluid than the original Relief Sun, using rice seed water and panthenol as part of that positioning.
Day Dew belongs to the U.S. market and uses a different sunscreen-active system. Beauty of Joseon also emphasizes its lighter finish, makeup compatibility and water resistance.
| Product | Label | Useful distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Day Dew Sunscreen | Broad Spectrum SPF 50 | U.S.-market formula; FDA-listed sunscreen actives; 80-minute water resistance |
| Relief Sun : Rice + Niacinamide | SPF50+ PA++++ | Original globally known Relief Sun formula and creamy texture profile |
| Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh : Rice + B5 | SPF50+ PA++++ | A separate Relief Sun formula positioned with a lighter, fresher texture |
A review of one can still be interesting when you are comparing the range, but texture comments, eye comfort, makeup wear and water resistance belong to the product that was actually tested or worn.
Broad Spectrum SPF 50 and SPF50+ PA++++
The labeling difference can make Day Dew look unfamiliar even before you reach the ingredient list.
Relief Sun buyers are used to seeing `SPF50+ PA++++`. Day Dew uses the U.S. `Broad Spectrum SPF 50` format. The absence of PA++++ on the American tube does not mean UVA protection has disappeared. Under U.S. sunscreen labeling, “Broad Spectrum” is used for products that meet the required broad-spectrum testing standard covering UVA as well as UVB protection.
The two systems should not be converted casually into one another. They are different regulatory labeling frameworks, and the products themselves are different as well.

When reviews cross product lines
The confusion is most likely to show up after leaving the brand’s site. A TikTok review may call Relief Sun “BOJ sunscreen” without keeping the full product name on screen. A retailer may place Day Dew next to imported Relief Sun listings. Search results may mix the original formula with Aqua-Fresh before a shopper notices that the product names have changed.
Someone who liked Relief Sun under foundation may reasonably be curious about Day Dew, but the Relief Sun review does not establish how Day Dew will sit over the same skincare. Day Dew’s 80-minute water resistance is relevant to the U.S. product, while it should not be quietly attached to a different Relief Sun SKU.
The full name on the tube usually resolves the confusion. Once Day Dew, Relief Sun and Aqua-Fresh are kept separate, the reviews around them become much easier to read in the context they were actually made for.
